Pathology & Laboratory Services

Our practice partners with PathCare to provide convenient on-site pathology services. Blood samples can be collected directly at the practice, with daily courier services to the laboratory for more specialised testing.

Common tests available on site include:

  • Lipogram: full cholesterol profile for heart and vascular health
  • Glucose: blood sugar levels for diabetes screening and monitoring
  • HbA1c: 3-month average of blood sugar control (for diabetic patients)
  • Uric Acid: assessment for gout and related conditions
  • Haemoglobin: red blood cell index to screen for anaemia and iron deficiency
  • Liver function tests (AST and ALT): monitoring liver health
  • Other tests: samples can be collected and sent for a wide range of specialist investigations as required

Preparing for Your Blood Test

To help ensure accurate results, please keep the following in mind:

  • Fasting: Some tests (e.g., cholesterol, glucose) may require fasting for 8–12 hours. You will be advised in advance if this is necessary.
  • Hydration: Drink water before your test unless instructed otherwise — this can make blood collection easier.
  • Medication list: Bring a list of your current medications so the doctor and laboratory can interpret results accurately.
  • Comfort: Wear clothing that allows easy access to your arm for blood collection.
  • Results: Your results will be discussed with you by Dr. Loulene at a follow-up consultation, along with any treatment or referral if needed.
